Foragers Foods Launched

Foragers Foods was launched on Saturday Feb 25th 2012 at GrowFORTH, a local food summit organised by Forth Environment Link.  The summit, at the Albert Hall in Stirling, was well attended with over 120 registered and many more visitors on the day.

Gary McAlpine of Foragers Foods looked after the Smallholders table in the GrowForth Garden CafĂ© whilst Joanne McAlpine visited several tables and stalls of interest including info on encouraging the declining bumble bee population and Central Scotland Green Network Orchard Grant Scheme.  There was an interesting and informative presentation by Mike Small of the Fife Diet and a tasty buffet lunch was provided by "catering@thecampus' from Forth Valley College.

It was a great forum for local food producers to network and meet local customers and we hope it’s the first of many events in the future.   Thanks to Carron Tobin of Rural Dimensions and all the volunteers for all their hard work in organising the event.

Foragers Foods is a local family run business in the making.

Located in west Stirlingshire Foragers Foods aims to provide a variety of wholesome locally produced food to local customers including restaurants, hotels, guest houses, butchers/grocers and the general public.

Before we get off the ground we are conducting some market research in order to ensure that we grow the products that you want or can't easily find. If you live or run a business in and around Stirlingshire we’d love to hear from you.  Please take a few minutes to complete our online questionnaire so that we can get a feel for what to produce.

Many thanks,

Gary & Joanne McAlpine
